Exhibiting at Virginia MOCA, Virginia Beach VA (October 1, 2025-January 11, 2026)
Louisiana is the wettest state in the continental US by average annual rainfall of 60.1 inches. In “Surrounded” I combine scenes from recent flash floods with hurricane rainfall patterns and a geographic map, which continues to suffer impacts of climate disaster.
“You built your home on solid ground. You raised the walls, and you covered them with a sturdy roof. But then the water started rising. You made plans, you worked hard, you fought back . . . but now you’re surrounded. Will this storm pass, if you can just hang on?”
Original oil painting on canvas, 30”x 40”x 1.5”
Location: Louisiana
Signed on the front, signed & titled on the back and comes with the Certificate of Authenticity
Protective varnish applied to the painting
Painted on 1.5" deep gallery wrapped canvas with all sides painted - no framing is needed
Wired and ready to hang
Please note that colors may vary slightly due to the fact that you are viewing art on a backlit screen.
